Pinak Pani Dhaun

Pinak Panu Dhaun is one of the first (probably the first) persons who wrote about the Khatri Samaj Mandi.


Published by "Khatri Sabha Riyasat, Mandi" and written by Pinak Pani Dhaun, this book is one of the rarest source reflecting upon the origin of Khatri Samaj in Mandi.

O.C. Handa

Born in the lower-middle class family of Mandi town in Himachal Pradesh on 2nd October 1936, O. C. Handa lost his mother soon after his birth.

 

Because of the financial constraints, Handa could not study beyond matriculation at proper age, but he got that opportunity in 1981, when the Mysore University started a unique distant education programme, and did his Masters in History in one go direct from matriculation.  He was the first person from North India to have done that. After that, he did his Ph. D. (History) (1987) and D. Lit. (1993). He also underwent in-service training in Archaeology and switched over to Archaeology from Engineering, and remained Deputy Director (Archaeology) and Curator of State Museum at Shimla.  Having retired from the HP government service in 1994, he also remained Director, International Roerich Memorial Trust at Nagar (Kullu).

 

Until date, Handa has authored about 40 books, covering various aspects of the Indian Traditional Knowledge System and Wisdom. Besides, he has edited several volumes on History of Indian Science and Technology as a Senior Editor of the HIST Series under auspices of US-based Infinity Foundation, of which he earlier remained a fellow.  Presently, even at 84 years, he is untiringly as active in exploration, fieldwork and writing as before.

Born to a renowned author Dr. Chaman Lal Malhotra, Sidharth in the back of his mind always wanted to write a book, which he finally achieved in 2019, when his 1st fiction novel "Blood is Thicker" was launched and has sold over 20000 copies across the world tiil date.
