The history of Khatris of Mandi in general and Khatri Sabha in particular is punctuated with Glory, industriousness, great and that "Never ever give up" spirit. The Khatri Sabha Mandi, as we see today is the outcome of the efforts which started after the arrival of Khatris way back in early 17th century, which resulted into the  formation of Khatri Sabha Mandi in 1892.

It all started in 1892 when Shri Munshi Ramdita Mal Kallu ji presented a booklet "Dastur ul Amal" regarding implementation of Akhrajet shaadi and Gami Akivam Khatriyan in the court of 16th Raja Bijai Sen of Mandi. The content of this booklet was considered and the law was issued which was implemented for some time but did not get any special success.

The Khatris did not lose heart after this failure they continued their struggle. After three more efforts and a decade it, in order to prevent and improve the prevailing malpractices and wasteful expenses in the society, friendly gentleman in Lala devi Ram Lal, Lala Govindram, Lala Parmanand Saigal and Lala Ghunkuram ji  pioneered the formation of Khatri Sabha and convened the meeting by calling the general assembly of Khatri biradari at Bhootnath Mandir on 1st June 1926. That point of time, the Khatri Sabha did not have its own building. So Lala Mayadhar and Lala Chandramani happily donated their land for the purpose, where later the work of assembly continued.

In 1990, the members of the Khatri Sabha themselves raise the the sand granule, made the shramdhan and constructed the existing beautiful building of Khatri Sabha. The people of Khatri Community donated freely for this work and in this way, bhawan came into existence. Khatri Sabha was duly registered under the Societies Registration Act on 28th June 1983 during the tenure of Pradhan Shri Tarachand Malhotra ji.

It is Paramount to mention here that there was a time in early 1990s that all the heads of departments in Himachal Pradesh Government were from the Khatri community of Mandi town, this justifying that Khatris are the cream of the society. Continuing on the same lines, the Khatri Sabha Youth Wing (KSYW) was formed on 17th September 2017 to add exuberance to the experience. It ss working on the war footing in terms of social work and have also won many laurels for swachhta mission thus creating history in Himachal Pradesh.

KSYW has many projects in the pipeline like getting rid of social evils like extravagant expenditure on marriages.
